Stichting Dienst Landbouwkundig Onderzoek (St.DLO; further named DLO) is the main agricultural research institute in the Netherlands and is responsible for project co-ordination.
The Agrotechnology and Food Sciences Group (AFSG) of DLO will lead the creation of the “ask-Valerie.eu” search engine.
DLO is a private not for profit agricultural research institute specialising in strategic and applied research for industry and public institutions. The Plant Sciences Group (PSG) of DLO produces and integrates knowledge on genetics and reproduction, crop & weed ecology, crop protection, soil biology, agro-technology, climate change mitigation, adaptation strategies, and knowledge transfer.
AFSG is a European leader in creating sustainable and market oriented solutions for healthy food, fresh food chains, biorefinery, and biobased materials. The Intelligent Systems group creates knowledge-intensive computer applications that increase productivity and quality in the context of food production and consumption. The research focus is on extracting and sharing information from text and images using Semantic Web technology.
